We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is the cold, hard truth that you should know. Your cellulite is probably here to stay. However, it does not mean that you cannot reduce the appearance of cellulite on your body. One of the best ways is through dry brushing and getting your lymphatic system moving. This process will, in turn, help your body to remove toxins, waste and smooth out the dimply looking cellulite areas on your skin. Pair dry brushing up with some essential oils and you will find yourself with more effective results, plus an aromatherapy session right before your shower.

Dry brushing before your shower in the morning is a great way to perk up and shake off sluggishness. All you will need is a few minutes of brushing and you will be able to get your circulation going. In the evening showers, dry brushing can be a soothing, full body exfoliation treat right before you slip into the lush covers of your bed.

So What Is Dry Brushing?

For those who have not heard of it yet, dry brushing is often referred to as the juice cleanse of the beauty and skincare world. It is pretty much as its name suggests, brushing yourself with a dry brush, to effectively open up the pores of your skin. This brushing process is usually done on dry skin, right before you shower. This is so that you can wash away dead skin and release any toxins. It is purported to increase blood circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system and leave you with smoother, healthier skin.

Essential Oils To Pair Up With Dry Brushing

Though dry brushing is great on its own, it can yield better results with essential oils that contain properties for combating skin issues. It could be used together for accelerating the process of reducing puffiness, the appearance of cellulite and more. Right below, we have compiled a list of essential oil mix that you can accompany your dry brushing process. However, do note that they are anecdotal and are not intended to be used as a treatment or cure for any disease. Please consult a health care professional for medical advice and perform a test patch for any allergic reaction before committing to a full body application.

Geranium, Juniper Berry & Fennel

Reduce puffiness of your skin with geranium, juniper berry and fennel oils. This trio, used individually or together, have diuretic properties which aid in de-puffing any bloated areas of your body and are wonderful for purifying your skin too. If you plan to concoct a customised blend of oil, try mixing equal parts of geranium and fennel to half the amount of fennel. Complete it with 1 part worth of the mixture’s measurement with organic olive oil. Apply the oil onto your skin as you would with lotion and get buffing with your dry brush.

Cedarwood, Black Pepper & Lemongrass

Tighten your skin and awaken your senses with any of these three essential oils. Their uplifting scent can also stimulate your blood flow while providing energizing and astringent effects. Use them separately with a carrier oil like olive oil or coconut oil and feel refreshed without having a need to reach out for that cup of morning coffee. Other useful oils that can bring you these benefits will be coffee, sweet birch, lemon and sage. Give them all a go and see how you feel about them!

Grapefruit, Cypress & Rosemary

To tone your skin by lifting sagging tissue and giving a smoother appearance, try rosemary, grapefruit and cypress. You may opt to use them individually (or blended together) with a carrier oil. Grapefruit contains bromelain which is an enzyme that can aid in breaking down cellulite, thus making it great for toning and tightening your skin. Rosemary boosts circulation and clears out lymphatic blockages while tightening your skin. As for cypress, apart from the astringent properties, it can reduce bloating and swelling while improving blood circulation.

The Ultimate Cocktail For Ridding Cellulite

If you are in the search for one that can lend you a helping hand to rid cellulite, here is the ultimate mix that you can bottle up and use whenever. Using a dropper for precise amounts of essential oils, into a 35ml bottle with a dropper lid, drip 2 drops of lemongrass, 4 drops each of black pepper, cypress and geranium, 5 drops of fennel, 8 drops each of rosemary and juniper berry, 7 drops each of coffee and cedarwood. Finally, 9 drops of grapefruit and then fill the bottle up with a carrier oil like grapeseed oil. Screw the lid on and give it a shake to combine the oils. To use, simply drop 3-5 drops of the oil blend onto your palm and run your dry brush bristles across your palm to coat it. Start brushing from your legs and work your way up in the direction of your heart. When you are done, rinse and wash off with your body cleanser.
